The Collection - Review - @BrandonCSites / #Horror

The Collection (2012) **1/2
D: Marcus Dunstan
C: Josh Stewart, Emma Fitzpatrick, Courtney Lauren Cumming, Christopher McDonald, Lee Tergesen, Randall Archer, Shannon Kane, Andre Royo, Tim Griffin, William Peltz, Erin Way, Eaddy Mays, Brandon Molale, Justin Mortelliti, Navi Rawat
P: The lone survivor of the original film (The Collector) is abducted from his hospital bed and coerced into helping out a group of mercenaries raid "The Collector's" lair, an abandoned warehouse that has been booby trapped, all in an effort to save a young woman who has kidnapped by The Collector.

Let me get this out of the way, we're not watching Shakespeare here! Now what we are watching is a film that is fun, fast paced and entertaining

A horror film needs to be a like a roller-coaster ride in many ways. You laugh. You scream. You sit there in your sit dreading the anticipation of horror. And when it is all said and done, you come away from it all having a good time. In that sense, The Collection is a success, in that it meets all those requirements.

Now, I will say this, The Collection is one of those films whose script would not stand up to close scrutiny. In some ways, it even feels like a ripoff of Aliens and just about any film in the Saw franchise. The Collection isn't a film that is going to enlighten you or provide you any great depth or meaning. Even the acting is completely over the top.

Different people are going to say a lot of different things about this film. Some of it good, a lot of it bad, but one thing The Collection isn't, it isn't boring. [R] 82 mins.
