Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever - Review - @BrandonCSites

Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever (2009) ***
D: Ti West
C: Noah Segan, Alexi Wasser, Giuseppe Andrews, Rider Strong, Alexander Isaiah Thomas, Michael Bowen, Larry Fessenden
P: A group of high school students, on prom night, are infected with the same virus from part one after drinking water contaminated from the events that took place in the earlier film. The students not only have to contend with everyone around them dying, but also a secret government agency intent on covering up everything.

Entertaining sequel is full of energy, gore, bloodshed, offbeat characters, cringe worthy moments, references to horror movie classics & pop culture and a spot on parody involving teen movie cliches. The first one faltered in presenting a film that was jerky and uneven. The shifts in tone were jarring. With Cabin Fever 2, even though the film is tackling a lot of subject matter, the film is more linear and cohesive in narrative structure. The film flows more seamlessly.

Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever isn't able to maintain it's energy all the way until the very end. The film's closing segment, slows things down to a halt. The closing segment should have played over the closing credits instead of being part of the actual movie itself. Still, Cabin Fever 2 outdoes its predecessor in providing a more consistently entertaining film that's more balanced in tone. [R] 87 mins.

*Completed in 2007, but not released until 2009.
