Review: With a title like Drive-In Massacre, this has got to be a homerun? Right?!? Wrong!
Going into a movie entitled Drive-In Massacre, it's fair to say that people are expecting to see a bunch of characters getting knocked off while watching movies or making out at the good ole' drive-in. Instead, most of the focus is put on a police procedural story. In taking this approach, I have one question for those involved with this production. WHY?!?
Viewers don't want to watch a story involving cops trying to make sense of a series of murders at the title location. They want an entertaining diversion with a drive-in and a massacre. Is that too much to ask for? When it comes to the actual massacre part, they can't even get that right. There's precious few killings and, even then, those scenes are poorly staged with unconvincing special effects.
Drive-In Massacre fails for one reason, above any other, and that's because it doesn't deliver on the promise of its title. [R] 74 mins.
