Last Exorcism, The - Review - @BrandonCSites / #EliRoth

Last Exorcism, The (2010) *
D: Daniel Stamm
C: Patrick Fabian, Ashley Bell, Iris Bahr, Louis Herthum, Caleb Landry Jones, Tony Bentley, John Wright Jr., Shanna Forrestall, Justin Shafer, Carol Sutton
P: A priest, who has doubted the relevancy of exorcism, heads out to a small town farm to help a supposedly possessed teenage girl rid herself of the demons that plague her.

Credits due where credits due and the way that Ashley Bell bends and molds her body into an array of shapes and patterns deserves high praise. However, that’s not enough to salvage this film.

The biggest problem with The Last Exorcism is that it recalls what other films like The Blair Witch Project and The Exorcist did and did better at that. Those films got under people's skin and affected them in a unique way that had never been done before. Since The Last Exorcism is copying from two unique, standout films, it’s inherently inferior because it will never be able to replicate the originality or uniqueness that made those films stand out to begin with. [PG-13] 87 mins.
